The ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 Modap platform is now ready to take the next step with Android. The latest release, Android 4.1, also known as Jelly Bean, is now running on the ST-Ericsson reference platform.
Combining a dual-core SMP processor and a high-end 3D graphics accelerator, the NovaThor U8500 enables efficient multitasking and highly responsive user interface
We look forward to seeing this soon on commercial devices.

August 21, 2012 at 7:22 pmNice one.
For next time – run it with Battery so no more unwanted power cables, show some benchmarks, and if possible display on a bigger screen.

September 3, 2012 at 8:18 amGUI is no doubt very responsive. It would have been nice to:
- Demonstrate Wi-Fi and GPS performance
- Head to head comparison with competitor’s platform

March 10, 2013 at 7:11 amSir I appreciate that you have made a working JB for Novathore u8500,
I represent myself to u as all U8500 users and want you to please release the sources for the same,
we on xda are really waiting for it, and a JB on our device will make our devices worth buying it.

March 10, 2013 at 12:23 pmrelease the nova thor chip sources in order to help the devs. when sony ditched our sola and U then at least release the sources of the chips in order to get good custom roms !

March 19, 2013 at 6:11 pmThis initial Jelly Bean porting was done on ST-Ericsson internal reference design as a starting point for our customer. Then final development and maturation work is done by our customer and it’s up to them to decide to upgrade their phones that have slightly different hardware combination
That being said, I understand your frustration regarding the Sola and U and your willingness to create custom ROMs running Jelly Bean. The best track for you are the other Sony phones based on our chipset (Xperia P and Go) and that will be upgraded to Jelly Bean soon
