With the compact and cost-effective PM2300, a 3 A charger can be used, instead of the standard 1.5 A charger, thus reducing the charging time by up to 50 percent. This also allows the mobile device to be charged while being used intensively in charging mode. To save space and improve efficiency, the PM2300 uses an innovative dual DC/DC structure made up of two small coils, rather than one large coil. The first tablets equipped with the PM2300 are expected to be launched commercially in the fall of 2011.
Our PowerHUB product line will come with a full range of innovative products combining conventional charging technologies and new energy sources, thus providing a new level of flexibility and scalability for the energy management in portable devices.
Using leading-edge micro and nanotechnologies, ST-Ericsson is developing new PowerHUB solutions that will be able to draw energy from solar cells, wireless chargers and physical movement, automatically using the optimum power source or best combination of sources available at any time for maximum efficiency.
